Xylitol fights acid producing bacteria which cause tooth decay and gum disease. Xylitol is a sugary sweetener used in many oral hygiene merchandises, including toothpaste. It's a natural, healthful sugar alternate, that is a nonfermentable sugar alcohol.
Xylitol prevents cavities by starving bacteria, remineralising tooth enamal, reducing plaque, and raising the flow of saliva in the mouth.
