Heart Disease
Heart disease or atherosclerosis is related to diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Heart disease is linked to high calory diets, particularly refined carbohydrates and vegetable oils, where the use of harsh chemicals removes important antioxidants which have been proven to reverse the damage. One study showed that heart disease was linked to unfermented milk protein intake. Hence unlike what the heart foundation tells us, it appears that we should be consuming butter, cheese, cream and yoghurt instead of milk. Of course whey protein isolate has been shown to prevent prostate cancer and remove skin blemishes.
All the same, it appears we should eats loads of fruit and vegetables for good health, and that most of our fat and protein should come from vegetarian sources.
Cold pressed oils like extra virgin olive oil have been proven to reduce blood pressure. As you may know deep frying damages the oils too, turning them into trans fats.
Another problem with our diets with regards to oils is that the ratio of omega 6 (found in most vegetable oils) in western diets is too high compared with our omega 6 intake. Some purists say the ratio should be 1:1. Typically it is more like 1:20.
Other factors which contribute to heart disease are stress, anger and lack of sleep.
A comparison of all the studies done on alcohol and health shows that moderate drinkers are much healthier than alcoholics and teetotallers. This has been attributed to the beneficial effect on the circulatory system, which can even prevent dementia when more blood is supplied to the brain. The study recommended between around two standard drinks daily depending on body mass and no binge drinking, but rather, regularly for maximum benefit.
Some of the many natural things which can fight heart disease are arginine, cocoa, fish oil, and garlic.
